Meet Gul Hassan
Gul Hassan, Founder & Publisher of CakeDraft

Hi, I’m Gul Hassan, a professional chef, recipe developer, and the founder and publisher of CakeDraft.
I’ve always loved making cakes not just because of the finished result, but because of the process behind them. Baking teaches you to pay attention to small details: how a batter looks before it goes into the oven, how ingredients behave at different temperatures, and what can turn a good cake into a disappointing one.
Over the years, working in professional kitchens has given me hands-on experience with baking, recipe development, and the practical problems that can happen during cooking.
Before starting CakeDraft, I spent two years working with Viral Food Hacks, developing and testing recipes for a food-focused audience. That experience reinforced something I believe every good recipe should provide: the reason behind the instructions, not just the instructions themselves.
Why I Started CakeDraft
I created CakeDraft to make baking easier and less frustrating for home bakers.
A recipe can tell you to mix, bake, cool, or frost but that doesn’t always explain what the batter should look like, why an ingredient matters, or what to do when something doesn’t go as planned.
That’s where I want CakeDraft to be different.
My goal is to provide recipes with:
- Clear, practical instructions
- Helpful explanations of why important steps matter
- Common mistakes and ways to avoid them
- Ingredient substitutions and variations where appropriate
- Storage and serving guidance
- Useful baking tips based on hands-on experience
How I Develop and Test Recipes
Recipe development is more than writing down a list of ingredients.
When I develop a recipe, I pay attention to how the ingredients work together and how the recipe behaves during preparation and baking. I look at things such as batter consistency, moisture, texture, baking time, temperature, and the finished result.
When a recipe doesn’t work as expected, I use that experience to improve it. Sometimes a cake needs a change in moisture, mixing technique, baking time, or ingredient ratio. Those details are important because small changes can make a noticeable difference in baking.
I try to explain these details in the recipes so you understand what to do, why you’re doing it, and what to look for along the way.
What You’ll Find on CakeDraft
CakeDraft focuses primarily on cakes, desserts, seasonal bakes, and approachable recipes for home bakers.
You’ll find recipes ranging from classic layer cakes and everyday desserts to seasonal and specialty bakes.
Each recipe is designed to give you more than an ingredient list. Where useful, you’ll find:
- Step-by-step preparation instructions
- Ingredient measurements
- Baking and preparation times
- Troubleshooting advice
- Recipe variations
- Substitution suggestions
- Storage recommendations
- Serving ideas
- Nutrition information
My aim is to make the recipe useful even if you’re making it for the first time.
A Focus on Practical Baking
I believe the best recipe is one that helps you understand what is happening while you bake.
For example, knowing that a cake batter should have a particular consistency can be just as important as knowing how long to bake it. Understanding why excess moisture can affect a cake can help you avoid a soggy result. Knowing how a filling should behave before you assemble a cake can save an entire bake.
These are the kinds of practical details I try to include throughout CakeDraft.
About the Recipes and Nutrition Information
CakeDraft recipes are written and developed with home bakers in mind. Recipe measurements, preparation instructions, cooking times, and nutritional information are provided as guidance and may vary depending on ingredients, brands, equipment, portion sizes, and individual preparation methods.
If you have food allergies, dietary restrictions, or specific nutritional requirements, always check the individual ingredients and product labels before preparing a recipe.

Gul Hassan
Founder & Publisher, CakeDraftHi, I’m Gul Hassan a professional chef and the person behind every recipe on CakeDraft.
Cakes have always been my favorite thing to make, and honestly, my favorite thing to teach. There’s something satisfying about turning a handful of basic ingredients into something that makes people’s eyes light up at a birthday table, and I’ve spent years chasing that feeling in professional kitchens.
Before starting CakeDraft, I spent 2 years working with viralfoodhacks.com, developing and testing recipes for a food-focused audience. That experience taught me something important: most home bakers don’t fail because they’re bad cooks they fail because most recipes skip the why. They tell you what to do, but not why it actually works, or what goes wrong when it doesn’t.
Why I Started CakeDraft
I built CakeDraft to fix that. My goal is simple: help people bake cakes the easy way, without the guesswork, the vague instructions, or the recipes written by someone who’s never actually made the mistake they’re warning you about.
Every recipe here is one I’ve made myself, tested in a real kitchen, adjusted after it went wrong at least once, and rewritten until it consistently works. When I tell you a batter is too thin or a filling needs to be strained first, it’s because I’ve had that exact cake fail on me before I got it right.
What You’ll Find Here
From classic layer cakes to seasonal bakes and no-fuss desserts, every recipe on CakeDraft comes with the same promise: clear steps, real explanations, and a result that actually matches the photo.
